This native South African flowering plant is a close relative of the popular amaryllis. Clivias have long, leathery, dark green leaves, and clusters of bright flowers. The most commonly seen flower color is orange, although varieties are also available in yellow, pink, and salmon. The price of the plant increases depending on how rare the color is. Clivias tend to be expensive compared to the price of other houseplants, but one can save money by buying clivia seeds or seedlings.
